New Undergraduate Student
  • Undergraduate student will be automatically provided with on campus accommodation which is twin sharing room.
  • Students do not need to apply for the on campus accommodation.
  • It is compulsory for the Student to stay at the Residential College on the Orientation day.
  • Student also can choose whether to accept the offer to stay on campus or off campus.
  • University of Malaya will not be responsible to find an off campus accommodation.
  • University of Malaya also will not be responsible for any matter related to the rental and tenancy agreement made between Student and the owners/agents for the off campus accommodation.  
New Postgraduate Student
  • Postgraduate student applications will be considered only if they are vacant rooms in the college.
  • All postgraduate students must make sure that they have sorted out their accommodation before or once student arrive in University of Malaya.
  • For those who want to apply for on campus accommodation, a complete application must reach the International Student Centre (ISC) at least 4 weeks in advance of a new semester / arrival at UM to secure a place (subject to availability).
  • Booking can only be made for at least 1 month before check in date. Rooms will be reserved for 30 days after the application approved. The University reserves the right to release the room after that period of duration.
  • Each complete application will be process and International Student Centre (ISC) will announce the result within one (1) week after receiving the application. The application does not guarantee a place in the Residential College. All bookings are entertained on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis.

     Then submit the completed form together with these following documents: 

  • copy of offer letter as a student
  • copy of passport
  • passport size photo

  • If they are no vacant rooms, please try other options. Student can take an off campus accommodation and looking for a place nearby. Student also can browse some websites such as www.hostelhunting.comwww.iproperty.com.my or www.mudah.my for guidance. The nearby areas are Petaling Jaya in the State of Selangor, and Bangsar, Bangsar South, Pantai, Midvalley City and KL Central in the Kuala Lumpur Province. 
  • Student can call the owners/agents of the properties for further information related to the houses and the rental fees. Please note that the University of Malaya has no relationship with any of these agents. We got their contact details at the apartment/condominium and thought that it will be good if we can share them with our Student who are looking for off campus accommodation before they arrive here. We would like to express again that the University of Malaya is not responsible for any matter related to the rental and tenancy agreement made between Student and the owners/agents.
Current Active Student
  • Current active student who want to apply for accommodation need to apply through MYUM portal online system. Please login to MYUM portal and apply by clicking the College icon.

     On Campus

  • All application will go direct to the College that student choose. Student need to follow up with the College Management Office for the result.
UM Exchange Programme (UMSEP) Student Organize By ISC
  • Student can decide whether to stay on campus (10th Residential College) or to stay off campus accommodation through the e-Inbound Online System Application once they get their offer letter. 
  •  Non-Partner University/Free Mover 

      Student from non-partner Universities are required to pay the accommodation fees.   

  • Partner University

Student from our partner university will get the accommodation fee waiver which is limited to a specific number of students if stipulated in an agreement      between their home university and University of Malaya.                                                                  

                                                             
 

                                                         
 

  
 

UM Exchange Programme (UMSEP) Student Organize By School / Faculty
  • Organizer/University/Institution must submit the full accommodation application to International Student Centre (ISC) at least one (1) month before the programme took place.
  • The application must have list of :  
  • Name (participants)
  • Passport Number
  • Gender
  • University
  • Country
  • Status (student/lecturer)
  • Time & Date to Check in
  • Duration (Start Date – End Date) 
  • Approval of application is subject to vacancies.
  • Booking can only be made for at least 1 month before check in date. Rooms will be reserved for 30 days after the application approved. The University reserves the right to release the room after that period of duration.

Organizer/University/Institution must pay for the accommodation fees for the students who are from non-partner Universities.

Organizer/University/Institution will get the accommodation fee waiver for the students who are from partner Universities. This condition is limited to a specific number of students if stipulated in an agreement between their home university and University of Malaya.
